Already searching for a jersey sponsor and continuing to struggle with attendance, FC Dallas is now looking for a stadium sponsor. On Tuesday, it was revealed that the Frisco, Texas stadium would be called FC Dallas Stadium instead of Pizza Hut Park during the 2012 MLS season. The Houston Business Journal had reported that the deal was originally worth $25 million over 20 years.

This is just the latest piece of bad news for FC Dallas this offseason. David Ferreira, who won the MVP in 2010, has been rumored to be leaving the team, while Marvin Chavez was recently traded to the San Jose Earthquakes for allocation money.

While last year was a high-water mark in terms of attendance for FC Dallas with an average of nearly 13,000, that was still better than just two other MLS teams. One of those teams is the San Jose Earthquakes, a team that plays in a stadium that fits fewer than 11,000 fans. The other team with worse attendance, the Columbus Crew, are also owned by Hunts Sports Group. As FC Dallas blog Big D Soccer points out, the Crew and FC Dallas are the only two teams in MLS weither neither a stadium sponsor nor a short sponsor.
