The crisis is over at PSG, at least for now. They’ll go into the winter break happy. They were able to win away to St. Etienne, while Lille drew and both Montpellier and Lyon lost.

    Ligue 1, Week 19 Wrap: Paris Saint-Germain Win While All Of Their Rivals Fail Miserably

    Just a couple of days ago, Paris Saint-Germain were a club on the verge of crisis. Or, at least, that’s what all the papers would like you to think. Lots of money, but mediocre results has been the story at Parc des Princes this season. The papers are going to have to find a new narrative after Round 19, as PSG are top of the table heading into the holiday break. All of their main rivals dropped points, leaving them top by three points.

    Marseille are continuing their surge up the table after a terrible start, and they’re just eight points off the top after defeating Nancy. Mathieu Valbuena scored the opener on a great goal, assisted by Loic Remy in the 18th minute. Reynald Lemaitre stunned the visitors with a 37th minute goal, but Stephane M’Bia scored the eventual game-winner four minutes later, heading in a cross from Morgan Amalfitano. Lucho Gonzalez added another goal in garbage time.

    After their 0-0 draw with Lille, Paris Saint-Germain are back under scrutiny. More specifically, Antoine Kombouare is under scrutiny. It doesn’t get a whole lot easier for his side, as they travel away to St. Etienne during the last set of fixtures before the winter break. If PSG fail to win, Kombouare might not make it to the next fixture. Enter Rafa Benitez, who will ball so hard, the LFP wanna fine him. That ish cray.
