Juventus have finally returned to what their supporters would call their rightful place, the top of the table in Serie A. The combination of the hiring of Antonio Conte, some astute signings and some time back in the top flight have led Juventus back to prominence, and they look like they will return to playing Champions League football next season. However, they are a team in need of strengthening, and it appears that the board is willing to spend in order to insure the the team is strong enough to win the Scudetto.
Juventus Transfer Rumors: Old Lady After Marco Borriello, Martin Caceres
According to Gazetto Dello Sport, Roma striker Marco Borriello and Sevilla defender Martin Caceres are among their targets. While both are quality players and it's plausible that they would like to move to Juventus, it's tough to figure out why the Old Lady would want to buy them. Up top, Alessandro Matri is in great form, while Fabio Quagliarella is just coming back to full fitness. Where Borriello fits in isn't exactly clear.
The Caceres link is even more curious. Juventus could use some help at central defense and left back, but Caceres has played more right back than anything recently. Juventus are solidified at that position, where Stephan Lichtsteiner is having a spectacular year. Juventus could be lining up Caceres as a central defender, but with the amount of time he's spent as a fullback for both club and country in the last two years, there surely have to be better targets.
