Zenit St. Petersburg are through to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League, thanks to a 0-0 draw at Estadio do Dragao against FC Porto. Coming into the match, APOEL Nicosia had already qualified, while Porto needed a victory to advance. Without leading scorer Alexander Kerzhakov, Luciano Spalletti understandably played for the draw in a tough road match and got it, denying Porto clear-cut scoring opportunities.
The visitors occasionally took their chances on the counter, but were more concerned with keeping their shape and didn’t produce a single shot on target in the match. Porto had plenty of shots and almost two-thirds of the possession, but the majority of their shots were desperate long shots.
