Club Necaxa Vs. Club America: 1-0 Full Time, Super Águilas Suffer Massive Blow

Club America had plenty of opportunities to take points from Club Necaxa on Friday night, but failed to capitalize on all of them as Necaxa goalkeeper Oscar Perez put on a fantastic performance, leading to Necaxa’s 1-0 shutout win. Sergio Blanco scored the only goal of the game in the first half with a great individual effort, while none of America’s players matched his skill and drive. America striker Matias Vuoso squandered multiple chances to score, a couple of them coming during a flurry of four missed goal scoring chances just before Blanco’s 35th minute winner.

The loss will be a tough blow to an America side that appeared to have turned a corner. They got off to an awful start this season, but they had won their previous three matches in a row before this loss to Necaxa. While the win is likely to be a great moral victory for the hosts, it’s unlikely to help them stay up. Necaxa’s relegation coefficient is still far behind their rivals, and they will likely have to win all of their remaining games to have a chance to stay in La Primera.
