The 2-0 scoreline doesn’t come close to telling the whole story of this match as Arsenal dominated Wolverhampton Wanderers in their English Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium. Robin Van Persie netted a brace, the first goal of which was stunning, while Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey did well to keep the scoreline respectable. Despite Van Persie’s brace and the fact that Wolves lost the match, it wouldn’t be ridiculous at all to call Hennessey the man of the match. He was absolutely spectacular, and he continues to justify getting starts over Marcus Hahnemann.
Arsenal Vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers: 2-0 Full Time, Gunners Dominate, Robin Van Persie Nets Brace
The win was a big one for Arsenal after Manchester United’s derby victory, keeping them on the pace near the top of the EPL table. It was a good recovery for them after their embarrassing dropped points against Newcastle, who they allowed to come back from four goals down to notch a 4-4 draw. The Premier League is starting to look like a two horse race, with Arsenal and Manchester United quickly separating themselves from the rest of the group.
Wolves are in a different race, trying to avoid the drop. This loss will have hurt them, but no one would have expected them to take points at the Emirates. Their next two matches against West Bromwich Albion and Blackpool will provide much better evidence of whether or not Wolves are worthy of staying in the Premier League.
