Sunderland Vs. Tottenham Hotspur: Asamoah Gyan Opens The Scoring

Tottenham Hotspur are playing a makeshift lineup due to injuries and their mid-week Champions League match against AC Milan, and it’s showing. The team looks like they’ve never played together - which they haven’t - and Sunderland have capitalized on their early dominance through a fantastic goal by Asamoah Gyan. The Ghanaian international makes Steve Bruce look smarter for Darren Bent each time he steps out onto the pitch, and he has Sunderland in great position for three points and a run back up towards European places.

Kieran Richardson provided the assist on the goal, but his ball into the box from the left flank was only average. He left Gyan with a lot of work to do, but the forward made it look easy. He took a sublime first touch, easily turned William Gallas inside out, and placed the ball into the back of the net. The goal was Gyan’s ninth in the league, an incredible stat considering the fact that he’s only made 11 starts. He’s more than justified his club record transfer fee so far, and he doesn’t look likely to stop scoring.
