The commentators curse strikes again. Just when I was predicting a drab 1-1 draw, Joaquin pops up to score his and Valencias second and it looks like being the winner…I say hesitantly. And in a match that hasn’t set the world alight, Joaquins second was a work of art. Topal drive down the wing before pulling the ball back to Aduriz who teed up the ball for Joaquin to curl in an exquisite strike from just outside the area. De Gea had no chance.
Atletico Madrid Vs Valencia: Joaquin Curls Valencias winner
Just after the goal, Diego Godin saw red for an elbow on Joaquin, but if you’re going to send a player off for a challenge like that, we’ll be seeing five or six red cards a match. Godin was understandably riled. With the red card, Atleticos hopes vanished into the Madrid sky and Quique will now be a lucky man to survive the weekend. Atleti started the match well and should have been ahead by more by the time Joaquin levelled. But after the goal Atleti didnt have it in them to create a winner and so it was that that late Joaquin goal wasa enough for the three points.
The Atletico debacle continues.
