There’s a reason that Monterrey’s Humberto Suazo is commonly referred to as a goal scorer instead of a striker or a forward. He’s put the Rayados up 1-0 early over Jaguares de Chiapas with a fantastic lobbed finish, put together on a quick counter-attack. Jaguares looked like the slightly better side leading up to the goal, but it only takes one chance for Chupete to strike and put his opponents to the sword.
Jaguares De Chiapas Vs. Monterrey: Humberto Suazo Puts Rayados Ahead
Monterrey went from being on the back foot to creating their goal scoring opportunity in mere seconds. A defender played a long ball out of the back, which Suazo’s strike partner Aldo de Nigris got on the end of. He took a great touch, flicking the ball out of the air directly into the path of Suazo. Jaguares keeper Gerardo Ruiz tried to rush out to challenge Chupete, but he was given no chance to do so. In a split second, Suazo hit a fantastic chip over his head and into the back of the net, giving the Rayados an early 1-0 lead.
Jaguares have continued to threaten Monterrey since, though. In the small period of time between the goal and my finishing this update, Antonio Salazar has hit the post for the home side.
