Remember when I said the game was over because of Oscar Razo’s red card and Humberto Suazo’s penalty kick? Yeah, scratch that. It only took Christian Valdez a couple of minutes to bring ten man Jaguares de Chiapas within one goal of securing a positive result against Monterrey. The score is now 2-1 in favor of the Rayados, and we’ve got a serious thriller on our hands.
Jaguares De Chiapas Vs. Monterrey: Christian Valdez Scores, And I Spoke Too Soon
When I said that Suazo’s penalty kick and Razo’s red card ended the match, Monterrey probably agreed with me. This might explain their lazy defending and why they allowed Christian Valdez to pick them apart. His close range, tidy, unassisted finish in the box was quality, but Monterrey’s defenders provided very little opposition, allowing him to walk with the ball into a position where he could easily slot it past Jonathan Orozco into the back of the net.
Following the goal, Jaguares decided to switch things up in a tactical move, bringing on Ismael Fuentes for Jose Ruiz Nataren, who gave away the penalty to Chupete, and as a result, sat on a yellow card. Jose Guadeloupe Cruz was likely concerned about Ruiz picking up a second yellow card, so the move was smart in that respect. Additionally, Fuentes should do a good job at tightening up the defense.
Oh, and the Azteca cameras just caught a dude throwing beer at people. In case you wanted to know.
