Everton could still claw their way back against Chelsea in this FA Cup fourth round replay, but after a Frank Lampard goal in the 14th minute of extra time, the Toffees seriously have their work cut out for them. As the ball rolled into the back of the net off of the foot of Lampard, Everton Manager David Moyes had a look in his face like someone had just run over his puppy.
Chelsea Vs. Everton: Frank Lampard Goal Puts Blues Ahead In Stoppage Time
Carlo Ancelotti brought Nicolas Anelka for Florent Malouda to start stoppage time, and his substitution paid off. Anelka’s fresh legs allowed him to beat his defender while he was wide to the right, and he swung a cross into the center of the box from the endline. That cross fell to Didier Drogba, who knocked down the cross with his chest. The ball fell to Lampard, and with his eighth attempt on goal of the match, the midfielder finally found the back of the net, placing his shot low and to Tim Howard’s left. There was nothing the American could do, and Chelsea took the lead after 104 minutes.
