Both teams hit the woodwork on multiple occasions in the Clasico Regiomontano, but neither could find a way to score. Despite an entertaining game between UANL Tigres and Monterrey, their derby match ended scoreless. Tigres were certainly the team with more chances to score, and they probably should have won the game comfortably. With Tigres failing to convert on a number of good chances and Monterrey drawing a derby match at home, neither team is likely to walk away from the fixture happy.

The Group 1 standings remain unchanged, with Tigres sitting on first place and Monterrey sitting on third. Four points separate the teams; Tigres have 14 and Monterrey have 10. Santos Laguna, currently sitting on 10 points, does not have an opportunity to take first place tonight, but gaining ground on Tigres while creating separation from Monterrey would be valuable.
Elsewhere in Mexico, Cruz Azul snatched a hard fought 2-1 win over Atlas in dramatic fashion. Cruz Azul scored the opener in the 2nd minute, just a minute after Atlas had a goal wrongly disallowed for offsides. Atlas equalized in the 72nd minute through Flavio Santos, but Cruz Azul snatched all three points in the 93rd minute when Isaac Romo tapped in the rebound off of a Chaco Gimenez free kick.
