Fulham FC Vs. Bolton Wanderers: 0-1 Full Time, Owen Coyle’s Men Advance To FA Cup Sixth Round

Fulham FC fought hard in their FA Cup fifth round match against Bolton Wanderers, but Ivan Klasnic’s 19th minute goal turned out to be the only score of the match, giving the visitors a 1-0 win and passage into the sixth round of the FA Cup. Bolton were significantly out-shot on the day, while captain Kevin Davies put in a generally poor performance, but their midfield and defense held strong while young keeper Adam Bogdan had a good game, guiding them to a win.

Klasnic’s goal was an odd one off of a scramble, created by a Fabrice Muamba cross that was cleared away from goal. Unfortunately for Fulham, that clearance fell right to Klasnic, and he finished well to score the game’s only goal.

Fulham’s best moments of the game came late. In the 67th minute, striker Bobby Zamora, finally returning from an extended injury layoff, entered the game. Zamora scored virtually no rust and from the time he came on to the final whistle, it was almost undebatable that he was the best player on the pitch. Had Zamora been fit enough to play 90 minutes, it seems reasonable to conclude that Fulham would have been able to score. The Cottagers may be out of the FA Cup, but Fulham’s league opponents will find playing them much more difficult than it was when they were without the England international striker.

Thanks to their win at Craven Cottage, Bolton progress to the FA Cup sixth round, where they will have to play another away game. They will be hosted at St. Andrews by Birmingham City, who easily defeated Sheffield Wednesday in the fifth round on Saturday.
