Rio Ferdinand May Be Fit For Fulham Clash
Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United may be handed a major boost to their hopes of completing what would be a historic treble by the return to training of former England captain Rio Ferdinand. The defender, who was initially expected to be a short-term loss after sustaining a calf injury in the warmups before United’s 2-1 loss at Wolverhampton on Feb. 5th, has now missed almost two months of the season and his absence has coincided with a rough spell for the club, who have lost three matches in that time frame and seen their Premier League lead cut to within touching distance.
Ferguson revealed that the centre back is likely to be fit for United’s April 9th gave at home to Fulham, but he’s still likely to miss the weekend trip to Upton Park as well as the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge:
