Wolves Vs. Blackpool: Lopsided Victory Sees Wolverhampton Out Of Drop
The fun started early for Mick McCarthy's men, exploiting poor Tangerines defending that had too many men collapse on Adam Hammill, leaving Matthew Jarvis along at the left of the area. The Wolves winger curled a ball into the right side of net, giving the home side a 1-0 lead two minutes in.
Blackpool, missing Charlie Adam, was never able to meaningful threaten Wayne Hennessey. Though they saw enough of the ball to create chances, they lacked the drive from midfield, also missing Adam's ability to distribute into wide spaces. Perhaps anticipated that would be lacking, Ian Holloway started Sergey Kornilenko and James Beattie along side Campbell. Within 27 minute, though, Kornilenko had given way to Nick Varney.
In the second half, Jamie O'Hara gave Wolves their first piece of insurance, picking up a ball near half-way and dribbling to within 22 yards before scoring with a low, left-footed shot to Richard Kingson's left corner. It was one of two shots on which Kingson may have done better, the Ghanian international looking slow to react on shots to his left.
The final two goals came from Sylvain Ebanks-Blake, the first an easy redirection of a Kevin Doyle cross, the second a night left-footed finish to which Kingson was against slow to react. The goals where both padding and vital, giving Wolverhampton enough of a boost in goal difference to temporarily climb out of the drop.
