Real Madrid are enjoyng plenty of plenty of possession but that is not translating either into flowing moves nor scoring opportunities. Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t seeing too much of the ball, and TV replays are showing the star lambasting his teammates for failing to find him with the final pass. But that’s nothing compared to Kaka, who I’m struggling to remember having done anything of note in that first half. The Brazilian has been utterly anonymous and I’d be surprised if Mourinho doesn’t replace him with the mercurial Angel Di Maria after the break.
Deportivo La Coruña Vs Real Madrid: HALF-TIME: Frustrating Night So Far For Real Madrid
For Depor it hasn’t been spectacular and they’ve hardly offered anything in attack bar a couple of chances as the half came to a close, but Miguel Angel Lotina can be happy with a solid defensive display that has restricted Real Madrid to pot shots from outside the area. CR7, Ozil and Kaka have been kept relatively quiet and it’s testiment to the efforts of Lopo, Laure, Colotto and Morel in defence. It will be interesting to see if they can maintain this intensity in defence for the whole 90 minutes.
But if Depor harbour hopes of winning, they’re going to have to risk a little more as the match wears on, and with Riki and Lassad both awaiting their chance on the bench they’re not short of firepower. An intriguing second half awaits!
