Valencia have had all of the possession in the first half of their La Liga match against Athletic Bilbao, but that possession has not turned into anything significant as Los Leones have not only taken and held a lead, but looked the slightly better side. Valencia’s best chance of the game came shortly after the goal when Pablo Hernandez failed to convert on a good one on one chance, and he had another shot saved just before the stroke of halftime. Otherwise, it’s been a lot of possession with minimal results.

Gaizka Toquero has been the man of the match so far without much of a debate, not only assisting on Fernando Llorente’s goal, but causing the Valencia defense problems throughout the 45 minutes with his fantastic work rate. The striker has done most of his work with his great runs with the ball down the right hand side, and he’s done a fair bit of tracking back as well.
One unfortunate note for Bilbao has been the lack of impact from their talented youngster Muniain, who is playing on the left hand side instead of his preferred second striker position. He hasn’t done much going forward on that left side, while Joaquin has been one of Valencia’s better players opposite him on their right flank.
