U.S. U-17 Boys Win CONCACAF Qualifying Tournament, Beat Canada 3-0

The U.S. Under-17 boys won the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying tournament with a 3-0 win over Canada on Sunday. It was the first time the U.S. had won the tournament since 1992 and sets up this June’s World Cup. All three of the U.S.‘s goals came in overtime with Nathan Smith opening the scoring in the 92nd minute with an amazing strike from about 35 yards out. His shot curled in off the far post and was the first goal Canada had allowed in the tournament.

The U.S. went on to score two more overtime goals, both of which were assisted by Jack McBean, who was recently signed by the Los Angeles Galaxy as a Home Grown Player. On the first one, McBean spotted Andrew Oliver streaking behind the defense on a quick throw-in in the 100th minute. Oliver made a couple nice touches, dribbled around the goalkeeper and easily slotted the goal in the back of the net.
