Nilmar’s return to Villarreal’s starting lineup hasn’t gone as expected so far, as Levante are doing a surprisingly good job of defending and getting out on the counter attack in this La Liga fixture. This match was tipped as a possible beating candidate, but the Granotes are hanging in there and look like they have a decent chance of getting points.

However, this doesn’t mean that Nilmar and company have been completely ineffective. He’s created some decent chances, along with strike partner Giuseppe Rossi. Nilmar had one screamer just barely go over the bar, while Rossi has been narrowly foiled by a couple of solid last-ditch tackles. It seems like it’s only a matter of time before the Yellow Submarine scores.
In addition to keeping a clean sheet, Levante have been able to get out on the counter effectively, though the final ball has been lacking in almost every case. Still, it’s nice to see a team who has been as poor as they have showing a little ambition.
It was a good first half for Levante, but it would be surprising if it lasts. Anything less than a win here would be a disappointment.
