Monterrey Vs. Pachuca: 2-0 Full Time, Rayados Cruise Over Tuzos

Thanks to a couple of nice finishes, some lay play from Pachuca, and some assistance from the referee, Monterrey have taken all three points at home against the ten man Tuzos as they coasted to a 2-0 win. Pachuca never really looked like they were in the game, but an ill-advised sending off by the referee in the first half killed off any chance they ever had of taking points out of the game.

The first goal was a well worked one by Monterrey, with a nice passing move capped off by a headed goal from Aldo de Nigris, assisted by Neri Cardozo with a looping cross. Pachuca were going to struggle to find a way back from that at full strength, but the referee sent off Leobardo Lopez just four minutes after the goal, making Pachuca’s task nearly impossible.

In the second half, Monterrey scored a second goal from Neri Cardozo, assisted by Humberto Suazo, and they were on cruise control from there. A 2-0 win was good enough for them, and especially for Chupete. He had a couple of bad misses in the second half and just laughed them off, knowing the game was in hand.

Monterrey will be hoping for a draw tonight between UANL Tigres and Santos Laguna as they look to get back on track and climb up the Group 1 standings. Pachuca are now in trouble in a big way and might be stuck in the depths of Group 2 for some time.
