After last week’s debacle against Toluca, UANL Tigres needed to shake things up a little bit. Into the starting lineup came United States international Jonathan Bornstein, who started last week’s game on the bench. The man who came to Tigres on a free transfer has been the subject of much debate about deserved playing time. It’s taken him just eight minutes in this game to prove his credentials, assisting on a goal to Hector Raul Mancilla to put Tigres up 1-0.

With a couple of more tenured Tigres players occupying the left back and left midfield roles, Bornstein is stuck playing a little more inside than he’s used to. Still, he was able to combine with one of those players, Damien Alvarez, before putting a cross across the box for Mancilla. He was left with just a tap in, and after eight minutes, Tigres are not only in control of this game, but of Group 1.
