There has been a lot of hype surrounding Tigres UANL and their new look roster this season, but after this first half performance at Estadio Corona against Santos Laguna, I think it’s safe to say that they are for real. Tigres are up 2-0 on their biggest rivals in Group 1, Santos. They’re doing it on the road, and they scoreline is indicative of the play. They’re legit, folks.

And you know what’s really scary? These new players can’t be completely settled and completely comfortable with each other yet. Additionally, Jonathan Bornstein and Danilinho are playing out of their natural positions...and looking good doing it.
One of those men, Bornstein, set up the first goal with a great assist. Damian Alvarez played him through into the box and Bornstein hit a great low cross through the Santos defense, setting up a simple tap-in for Hector Raul Mancilla. The second goal came off of a set piece and was the product of an absolutely ridiculous assist by Lucas Lobos, who sent a great swinging ball to the back post for Juninho to tap in, just as easily as Mancilla tapped in hi goal.
Tigres are cruising, and Santos look stunned. What does the second half hold in store?
