Genoa Vs. AC Milan: 1-1 Halftime, Floro Flores Scores In First Half Stoppage Time

AC Milan have been the much better side in the first half, with Max Allegri’s team selection working wonders. However, if you point this out to any Genoa fans, they’re likely to respond by making a tomahawk chop in the direction of the large display screen in the stadium and chanting “Scooooooooreboard. Scooooooooooreboard.” Okay, that’s unlikely. This isn’t high school basketball. Just roll with it.

Genoa and AC Milan are tied 1-1 at the half, thanks to a very lucky goal by Floro Flores of Genoa in first half stoppage time. How the ball got to him...well I still can’t tell after watching a replay, but a below average pass somehow took a deflection off of an AC Milan defender that turned it into a Xavi-esque through ball, right into the path of Flores. While the ball was lucky, the finish wasn’t, and Flores did well to precisely put the ball by Abbiati and into the back of the net at the far post.

Milan’s three defensive midfielder, three forward setup with no attack-minded midfielders is actually doing wonders, mostly because it looks like they have 12 men on the field. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is having a great game, working as both the target man and the playmaker. His assist on Pato’s goal was fantastic and he’s looked dangerous throughout the rest of the match.

This match probably shouldn’t be tied up, but it does matter. You know, “scooooooooreboard.” Milan were the better team in the first half and it would be surprising if they did not take the lead back in the second half.
