Chelsea FC Vs. Liverpool FC: Following The Reactions, 10th Minute, Grant Wahl And Taylor Twellman

If you follow any famous footballers or prominent journalists on twitter, you probably know that they really like tweeting out their thoughts during big matches. Today’s match between Chelsea FC and Liverpool FC is no exception. Sometimes, they offer fantastic insights into things that average fans don’t pick up on. Sometimes, they do the opposite. Journalists often show why they’re journalists: They can’t play football. Footballers often show why they’re footballers: They weren’t cut out for any other profession. Two guys who usually do not fall into this category are Grant Wahl of Sports Illustrated and Taylor Twellman, former New England Revolution and United States striker, now working for ESPN. Here’s what Twellman thinks about Carlo Ancelotti’s decision to start Fernando Torres:

Just didn't see Torres making the start....in a new surrounding sometimes coming on in 55' makes the game easier for you in new surroundingsless than a minute ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®

And here’s what Grant Wahl thinks about how the teams are working together so far:

These guys are passing like they've spent all week training with guys they've never played with before.less than a minute ago via web

Twellman’s tweet obviously offers some insight into something I don’t have first hand knowledge of, but it makes enough sense. Torres has looked neither lost, nor fantastic to start the game, and Twellman very well could be correct. Wahl is kind of stating the obvious, but he’s not wrong. It’s been a very tight game so far with neither team stringing together passes with the fluency we’re used to. Hopefully we’ll see some more prominent footballers and journalists active on twitter during the match. The guy whose reactions I’m most looking forward to? Ryan Babel.
