One word to sum up that half of football? Boring would probably be it. Lifeless would also work. There hasnt been one serious shot on effort, there hasnt been one spark from either sets of players and you know things are bad when the main talking point is a serious-looking injury to keeper Sergio Asenjo who fell awkwardly, twisting his knee and being replaced by sub keeper Arnau. The sub hasn’t had much to do.
Sevilla Vs Malaga: Half-time - Drab Opening Half in Sevilla
Luis Fabiano was set through in the closing moments of the half, but just when we were getting excited, a possible shot on goal….Martin Demechelis executed a perfectly timed tackle to nick the ball away from the striker and out for a corner. And that just about sums up the first 45 minutes…stuttering attacks being kept firmly in check by two dominant defences. Not football for the purists. Sevilla need to get Jesus Navas operating out of his own half, so far the winger has spent more time tracking back the waltzing down the wing, while Manuel Pellegrini will want to get Julio Baptista more on the ball.
Let’s see what the second half offers us!
