With the last touch of the ball, Weligton almost won it for Malaga. Seba swung in a delightful free-kick that caught the otherwise impeccable Sevilla defence flat-footed, but Weligton could only head straight at Palop who did well to punch the ball clear. Gilt-edged chance for the defender that he just couldnt take advantage of.
Sevilla Vs Malaga: Match Ends in 0-0 Stalemate
But at least he did work the goalkeeper, something both sets of attacks seemed incapable of doing during the previous 90 minutes of football. Not a great advert for La Liga football. Chances were at a total premium but the 40,000 crowd along with those unfortunate souls watching the match were treated to a masterclass in the art of defending. Not really what we watch football for, but admirable all the same.
Alexis and Fazio for Sevilla, along with Demechelis and Weligton for Malaga were supreme at the back, restricting both attacks to pot-shots and half chances. And so now we move onto the Bernabeu for Real Madrid Vs Real Sociedad. Goals please!
