Gareth Bale, Tottenham Hotspur Agree To Contract Extension

With Spurs eventually qualifying for the Champions League, Bale was given a chance to show off his skills on the continental stage, and he absolutely shone in both matches against defending champions Inter Milan, ripping them apart at the San Siro, where he scored a hattrick as well as terrorising the Italians at White Hart Lane. Bale’s now been brought to the attention of the international community and frankly eye-watering sums have been bandied about for his signature - the price has generally been suggested at around £40M. Now with a new contract under his belt, that can only go up.

The extension does not mean that Bale is guaranteed to stay with Spurs, but it does mean that Tottenham will be able to get a fair price for their prized asset if and when he does leave, and with Bale receiving a cut of any transfer fee paid for him, that’s obviously in his best interests too.
