It's been a dream start to Charlie Davies' MLS career, as the striker has netted a second goal, this time from open play, to put D.C. United up 3-0 on the Columbus Crew. Obviously, Davies was selected to take the penalty kick to put United up 2-0 to boost his confidence, and apparently, it's done exactly that.
D.C. United Vs. Columbus Crew: Charlie Davies Nets A Brace
In the 77th minute, Davies took off after a ball on the left flank, drawing Chad Marshall out from his central defense position. Davies pulled an And 1 Mixtape Tour ankle breaker on Marshall, making him literally fall over. This made life easy for Davies, as he was clear through on goal. Will Hesmer tried to rush out to stop him, but Davies had no problem juking him as well, then slotting the ball into the back of the net.
WOO WOO! Here comes the hyperbole train, next stop is you! Charlie Davies is going to win MLS MVP.
Robbie Rogers netted a minute later to make the score 3-1, but it was a mere consolation goal for Columbus.
