Predictably, Malaga have fallen behind Real Madrid early at the Santiago Bernabeu. Karim Benzema is the scorer, and the Frenchman really is beginning to answer his extremely harsh critics. Benzema and his teammates have been spectacular thus far, putting Malaga on their heels for the entirety of the match. Real Madrid should probably have more than one at this point, but a lead will do. Honestly, they don’t exactly need another. It would be incredibly shocking if Malaga got back into this game at all.

The goal came on a set piece, expertly delivered by Cristiano Ronaldo. Karim Benzema appeared to be drifting into an offside position when the kick was delivered, but he was kept onside by a Malaga defender that failed to step up. Running to the far post, Benzema beat his marker to the ball and touched it with his foot back across the face of goal, into the back of the net. To the surprise of no one, Real Madrid have a 1-0 lead after 27 minutes that they seem very, very likely to expand.
