Mexico Vs. Venezuela 2011 Score: Aldo De Nigris Goal Puts Mexico Ahead 1-0

After a tough first half, Mexico got off to a much better start in the second half, thanks to a few substitutions. One of those substitutions was powerful striker Aldo de Nigris, who entered the game for Javier Hernandez. Chicharito looked dangerous up top, but Alex Ferguson probably wouldn’t have been too happy with two long outings for his striker. The size and strength of de Nigris has proven valuable, and he’s scored the first goal of his international career with a close-range header.

Giovani Dos Santos provided the assist, floating a cross from the left hand side of the penalty area after being played in by Luis Perez. Venezuela goalkeeper Jose Morales was nowhere, and de Nigris has little problem winning the ball and nodding it into the back of the net for his first international goal.

Chepo de la Torre made a number of changes at halftime, and while de Nigris has a goal, the one that has worked out the best has probably been the introduction of Israel Castro. The UNAM Pumas man was great against Paraguay and has been arguably the most influential player on the pitch since entering the game. In competitive fixtures, he seems like a near lock to start next to Gerardo Torrado in midfield.
