Arsenal Vs. Sunderland: Andrei Arshavin Misses Key Chance

Arsenal need a change, and Arsene Wenger has opted to remove Denilson for striker Marouane Chamakh. Denilson had had a miserable game in the midfield, and Chamakh gives the home side another outlet in front of goal. He very nearly provided one on his first touch, bursting free down the sideline and cutting the ball back for Andrei Arshavin, who blasted a shot straight at Simon Mignolet when it seemed easier to score. It's unclear how Arsenal's shape has changed as a result of the substitution - right now it looks like it's a 4-2-1-3 with Nasri as a central attacking midfielder.

Meanwhile, Jack Wilshere and Jordan Henderson have both picked up yellow cards for dissent and a pointless foul respectively, and Arsenal have just had an attack broken up by what the referee is claiming is a foul throw - if that was a foul throw this game is rugby. Oh, and there's been another substitution: For Sunderland, Danny Welbeck, recovered from a long-term knee injury is on for Steed Malbranque. His last match for the first team was in early January, and they've desperately missed his incisive threat over the past few months. Can he make a difference today?
