If this isn’t an argument for reversing the rule precluding retrospective punishment when a referee sees the play on the pitch, we’ll never have one. There is no way this is a yellow card-only offense. Even at the time, we know. Seeing the evidence, it’s hard to merely overlook this as a common officiating error.
