Cam Weaver scored to give the Houston Dynamo a 1-0 lead, Camilo Sanvezzo answered just seconds later to tie the score and Bobby Boswell scored about four minutes after that to leave the Dynamo with a 2-1 lead over the Vancouver Whitecaps. The entire sequence took about five minutes to unfold, injecting some life into a match that had been pretty mundane up to that point.
Houston Dynamo Vs. Vancouver Whitecaps: Three-Goal Flurry Leaves Dynamo Up 2-1
The Whitecaps entered the match missing several key players, most notably Designated Player Eric Hassli and seemed to be playing a little more conservatively than we had grown accustomed to seeing. The Dynamo had the only real scoring opportunity in the early going, with Danny Cruz ringing a shot off the crossbar on a shot from about 20 yards out.
That all changed in the 37th minute, when Brad Davis sent a corner kick into the box, Boswell flicked it toward the goal and Weaver finished it past Jay Nolly. But the Whitecaps came right back down the field and scored the equalizer when Davide Chiumiento found Sanvezzo streaking toward the goal. Sanvezzo then beat Dynamo goalkeeper Tally Hall for his third goal of the season.
But that tie was short-lived as well. Boswell was able to get his head onto an entry pass from Cruz to give the Dynamo a 2-1 lead. The game has now gone into halftime with the score 2-1.
