Chivas Guadalajara turned in an absolutely fantastic performance against Club America at Estadio Omnilife in the 2011 Clausura’s Super Clasico, defeating their rivals 3-0 in a game where they were even throughout the first half and dominant in the second. America’s Vicente Vuoso came on for the Super Eagles at halftime, but his presence did nothing to aid his team’s attack. Instead, the most influential sub of the game was Chivas attacking midfielder Marco Fabian, who scored two goals to help lead his team to victory.

Young Erick “Cubo” Torres was also stellar, scoring the opening goal and assisting on Fabian’s first. Fabian’s second was assisted by Omar Arellano, whose work rate up top was key. America had absolutely nothing in the midfield throughout the game despite the presence of Rosinei and Pavel Pardo, and there was no aspect of the game in which they were not outplayed.
The game looked to change for the worst for Chivas after five minutes, when Jonny Magallon was forced out of the game with an injury, but just the opposite happened. They were not affected in the slightest by the loss of their star at the back, though time will tell if there is any long term impact.
Carlos Reinoso will now be on the hot seat for America, and qualification for both the knockout stages of Copa Libertadores and Liguilla will likely be required for him to retain his job long term.
