Real Salt Lake has created some good chances and had a goal waved off for offside, but they go into halftime tied with the Colorado Rapids 0-0. Wind and rain have also conspired to make for a somewhat sloppy match as neither team has really exerted much control.
Real Salt Lake Vs. Colorado Rapids: Scoreless At Halftime
The best two chances were both courtesy of Fabian Espindola. On the first, the RSL forward was able to get off an acrobatic shot, firing the ball at the goal while falling on his back. But Rapids goalkeeper Matt Pickens was up to the task and made the save. In about the 42nd minute, Espindola was able to score, but he was a good yard or two offside and it was waved off.
The Rapids' best chance came off a strike from Jamie Smith, who was starting in place of the injured Pablo Mastroeni. Smith's volley from the edge of the penalty area was saved by RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando.
