It's tough to argue that Barcelona don't deserve this penalty. They undoubtedly do because Raul Albiol just pulled David Villa down and the referee was completely justified in pointing to the spot, especially since Barcelona probably should have had a penalty in the first half when Villa was brought down by Iker Casillas. That said, is it deserving of the red card that Albiol saw after the referee pointed to the spot?
VIDEO: Barcelona Leads Real Madrid Thanks To Penalty, But Was It Really A Red Card Too?
I can't say that deserves a red card as well. Was it a clear goal scoring opportunity? With Albiol still right next to Villa, not so much. He pulled Villa down and a yellow card would be justified, but the red card is very harsh and likely ends any drama in this match. A goal down on Barcelona is tough enough as is, but Real Madrid have the quality to come back from that. A goal down and a man down? I'm not sure any team in the world can recover from that.
