That'll quiet the home fans at BMO Field. Five minutes into the match between Toronto FC and DC United in Toronto, Chris Pontius has his first goal of the season, and it was a cracker too. The midfielder picked up the ball in the centre, beating one, two, then three defenders before rolling the ball past Stefan Frei and into the back of the net. It's a nightmare for the home side, but a dream start for DC, who deserve a lead for their swashbucking start to the match.
Toronto FC Vs. DC United: Pontius, Davies Notch Early Goals To Put DC Up 2-0
Without Dwayne De Rosario in the lineup, Toronto are going to have a lot of trouble scoring goals - right now it looks more like DC United will be extending their lead rather than the home side mounting a comeback. If they are going to get back into the game though, perhaps not letting Chris Pontius run straight down the middle of the pitch would be a good plan.
And, like clockwork, they do double their lead. Somehow the visitors end up with a three vs. two against the Toronto defence, and although Frei stopped Josh Wolff's initial shot, the rebound fell to US international Charlie Davies, who made no mistake slotting home into an empty net. It's now 2-0 DC United.
