Just like buses, goals come two at a time for the New York Red Bulls. And they come in twos in the form of a brace for English striker Luke Rodgers, who didn't have much work to do thanks to excellent work by Thierry Henry down the left flank. The ex-Arsenal man recovered possession in a dangerous, burst into the penalty area, and squared for Rodgers, who beat a scrambling Jon Busch to the ball to slam home from very close range. That's 2-0 New York and Hans Backe's decision to drop Juan Agudelo to the bench looks like it's paying off.
New York Red Bulls Vs. San Jose Earthquakes: Luke Rodgers Brace Leaves NYRB Up 2
There's not much to say for the San Jose Earthquakes here - they're simply being outclassed by a very good New York team. There's no shame in that, though. After all, not every team can fluke their way into a result despite being blown off the pitch like the Philadelphia Union did last week. Oh, and there were no smoke bombs this time, which is nice.
