The New York Red Bulls head into halftime holding a commanding lead against the San Jose Earthquakes in what appears to be a minor monsoon in New Jersey. Luke Rodgers, starting over Juan Agudelo, got the hosts off to a dream start when he slammed home a loose ball in the San Jose box following a second minute corner, and life got even better for New York when Thierry Henri robbed Ramiro Corrales and sent in a low pass for Rodgers to turn home again less than fifteen minutes later.
New York Red Bulls Vs. San Jose Earthquakes: 2-0 New York After Dominant First Half
Henry should have gotten his own name on the scoresheet shortly thereafter, but shot straight at Jon Busch when it looked easier to score. They've really been all over San Jose today - about the only blemish on New York's evening is that Dwayne De Rosario has picked up a yellow card for a nasty-looking sliding tackle. The closest the Earthquakes have come to scoring was when Khari Stephenson was found with a lifted pass at the top of the 'D' - the midfielder's attempted volley might have caused trouble if only he'd made any contact with the ball at all.
