Toronto FC Vs. DC United: Ty Harden Sent Off, Toronto Down To 10

Toronto FC's day has gone from bad to worse immediate following the kickoff in the second half. Chris Pontius already has a goal in this match and Ty Harden was in no mood to allow him another as the DC United midfielder threatened to burst into the box and go one on one against Stefan Frei, and the centre back went in with an incredible aggressive slide tackle to stop Pontius from getting there.

Unfortunately for Harden, Pontius had already pushed the ball forward, leaving the defender to simply take the DC United player out with no extra support between himself and the goal. The tackle was worthy of a yellow card all by itself, but the denial of a clear goalscoring opportunity made it a straight red - bizarrely, Harden attempted to argue against the dismissal, but he has absolutely no case at all. The referee got this one right - he had to walk there.
