Robbie Rogers injected some life into what was an otherwise mundane match as he scored past Sporting Kansas City goalkeeper Jimmy Nielson to give the Columbus Crew a 1-0 win on Saturday. Rogers was able to be Nielson inside the far post, making a sliding shot after getting a nice pass off a header from Dilly Duka.
Columbus Crew Vs. Sporting Kansas City: Robbie Rogers Puts Crew Ahead 1-0
The goal is the second of the season for Rogers, who appears to be settling into his role after being benched earlier in the season. At the time, it was rumored that Rogers wanted out of Columbus, but he has started each of the last three matches and now appears to be happy.
Prior to score, SKC had pushed more of the action, having out shot the Crew 9-6. But they had not really been able to really create much pressure, having put just two of those shots on target and rarely forcing William Hesmer into any dangerous saves.
