Thierry Henry finally has a goal and the New York Red Bulls are now up 3-0 at home against the San Jose Earthquakes. Henry had had a difficult match, missing an easy chance in the first half by hitting the ball straight at John Busch before missing an even easier chance in the second when he rounded the goalkeeper only to hit the side netting. Although he appeared to succumb to an Achilles injury towards the end of the second half, he popped back on a few minutes later and managed to finally notch that much needed first goal of the season by turning home a Luke Rodgers cross.

That was the last play of the game for Rodgers, who had been an unpopular selection by Red Bulls coach Hans Backe - I think we can say that gambit paid off handsomely what with Rodgers' two goals and an assist. Juan Agudelo has come on in his place, and now Dane Richards is off for England native John Rooney, who apparently has a brother of some small reknown.
