Despite starting the match without at least five of their normal starters, the Los Angeles Galaxy have taken a 2-0 lead in the 72nd minute over the Chicago Fire and Toyota Park on Sunday. The second goal was scored off the head of Omar Gonzalez, who scored from the center of the goal box off an assist from Miguel Lopez, who also assisted on the Galaxy's first goal. The sequence started on a corner kick.

Two of the Galaxy's normal starters who began the match on the bench have since entered. Ryan Franklin came in at the 68th minute for Paolo Cardozo and Juan Pablo Angel entered for Chad Barrett in the 77th minute.
The Fire, who started the season with several strong showings are now just about 10 minutes away from dropping their third straight. After losing to the Seattle Sounders on Saturday, they lost to the Portland Timbers on Thursday.
