Dominic Oduro gave the Chicago Fire some life, scoring a 89th minute goal to cut the deficit to 2-1 against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday. The goal was Oduro's first of the season and ended what had been a frustrating run of matches in which he had missed several good scoring opportunities. Oduro was able to beat a Galaxy defender and then blasted his shot inside the far post from a sharp angle to beat Galaxy goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts.

Until the goal, the Fire had not challenged the Galaxy's goal for much of the second half, creating only a couple of reasonable scoring chances. Playing without several starters, the Galaxy have done an admirable job of limiting the Fire's opportunities and have played a relatively tight game. They have also made good on their own scoring opportunities, putting two balls past Fire goalkeeper Jon Conway, who was starting in place of the struggling Sean Johnson.
