The Los Angeles Galaxy limped into Toyota Park, but managed to end their three-game road trip with a 2-1 win over the Chicago Fire on Sunday despite beginning the game with at least five of their normal starters either unavailable or on the bench. Chad Barrett and Omar Gonzalez scored goals for the Galaxy, who claimed five points during those three matches. Among the players the Galaxy were missing were Juninho, David Beckham and Landon Donovan.

Miguel Lopez, who was probably only starting because of all the missing Galaxy players, had a hand in both goals. On the first, it was his feed to Barrett that sprung the forward loose. On Gonzalez’s goal, it was Lopez’s perfectly placed corner kick that found the head of the hulking defender. The assists were Lopez’s first points of the young season.
The Fire had several chances to get back into the game, but did not score until 88th minute when Dominic Oduro finally put one past Galaxy goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts. The Fire came close to tying it in the 4th minute of stoppage time, but the Fire could not put away a corner that Ricketts allowed to get behind him.
