Two set goals off set pieces see the Portland Timbers up 2-0 over FC Dallas. Portland went up early in the 13th minute thanks to the quick restart on a free kick. Captain Jack Jewsbury found some extra space in the penalty box and was able to put away a shot past Dallas keeper Kevin Hartman. The ball hit off the post and then hit Hartman in the back.
Portland Timbers Vs. FC Dallas: Timbers Up A Pair At The Half
The second goal came off a Jewsbury corner kick as the midfielder was able to link up with former FC Dallas striker Kenny Cooper, who headed a shot over Hartman.
Dallas had a large chunk of the possession but were unable to find any room in the penalty box to challenge keeper Jake Gleeson. Fabian Castillo, Marvin Chavez and David Ferreira all put ample amounts of pressure on the Timbers back four but it was the home side that were up the the challenge so far in the first half. Portland's counter attack and set pieces have been the difference in this one.
Dallas will need to make some halftime adjustments to get back into this one. The chances have been there for the Toros but the finishing hasn’t been there so far today.
