Nuri Sahin Knee Injury Rules Borussia Dortmund Midfielder Out For Season
Talented midfielder Nuri Sahin is set to miss the rest of the season after sustaining ligament damage during Borussia Dortmund’s otherwise routine 3-0 victory over Freiburg last weekend. Sahin, 22, has been brilliant this season in helping to propel the Bundesliga side to the top of the table, notching six goals and eight assists in thirty league games, in the process raising his profile to the point that he’s being courted by Europe’s biggest clubs.
With rumours that the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid may be chasing Sahin during the summer, the season-ending knee injury (a partial tear that will force him to miss at least six weeks) could actually spell the end of his time with Dortmund. His eleven year career with the team has been hugely impressive - he is both the youngester player to have appeared and have scored in the league, and inspiring his side to the title would be a fitting way to depart. Thanks to the win, they’re nearly there.
