After taking a lead and putting in some serious effort to try to retain that lead in the first half, Getafe completely collapsed in the second half of their game against Valencia, eventually losing by a score of 4-2. The hosts went into the locker room at halftime with a 1-0 lead, but Roberto Soldado’s goal 45 seconds into the second half seemed to seal their fate even before they started trailing. Still, it would have been hard to predict that they would collapse so thoroughly and so spectacularly, as Soldado netted four goals, taking his scoring record to a total of 10 league goals on the season.
Getafe Vs. Valencia Score: 2-4 Full Time, Roberto Soldado Nets Four Goals
Juan Mata assisted two of the goals, including the final one after a 60 yard run. One of the others was assisted by recent signing Jonas, and the other was unassisted after Soldado stole the ball from a Getafe defender. Manu’s opener was brilliant for Getafe and their 88th minute garbage goal wasn’t bad, but at that time, Valencia had completely taken their foot off the gas as a win was all but assured. Of course this win puts pressure on Villarreal to get some kind of result against Barcelona if they want to keep pace.
