Dwayne De Rosario made his New York Red Bulls debut, picking up an assist about a minute after entering the game in the second half, but could not do enough to get his new team over the hump as the Houston Dynamo scored the equalizing goal a couple minutes later and held on for a 1-1 tie. De Rosario had a chance to put the Red Bulls ahead, but after being left open, his header went wide of the goal.
New York Red Bulls Vs. Houston Dynamo: Red Bulls Settle For Draw
The Red Bulls had by far the better of the play, especially down the stretch, but Tally Hall once again came up big to salvage the tie. Hall's best save came off a Thierry Henry header in stoppage time. Juan Agudelo sent a cross to Henry, who got a clean look and sent a ball toward the top near corner, but Hall made a diving stab to parry the ball away.
The Red Bulls outshot the Dynamo 20-8 and forced Hall into seven saves. The only ball he couldn't stop was off the foot of Dane Richards, who was sent free on a nice from from De Rosario. Richards beat his man as he cut in from the sideline and then beat Hall far post to score his first goal of the season.
