Juan Agudelo: Yeah, This Kid Is Kinda Special

About a month ago, it seemed like Juan Agudelo was getting ready to grab the soccer world by the throat and declare his intentions to supplant Lionel Messi as the world's most exciting player. Of course, it was never going to be that easy and we, the soccer-watching public, were just about ready to move on to the "Next Big Thing" as he had gone five whole matches without scoring even a single goal.

Apparently, Agudelo wasn't as ready as the fickle public to move on and made sure we'd be thinking about him for at least a few more weeks with his goal against DC United on Thursday. I'll let the video do most of the describing here:

Jan Gunnar Solli picked up the assist on the play, his third of the match, but it was Agudelo who almost single-handedly made the play. Agudelo took Solli’s pass, used the front of his foot to pop it up about waste high and then volleyed it past DC United goalkeeper Bill Hamid.
